E3 2009: Modern Warfare 2 impressions

September 29th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in News

Modern-Warfare-2-DemoInfinity Ward showed the single-player level while offering insight to an outspoken sequel.

It’s perhaps E3’s most modern game. But sideways from the trailer playing randomly at the gigantic booth of Activision, it’s hard to find all that while the show is on. In its place, you will need to get some insider access for the rather smaller and close demo of the Modern Warfare 2.

Infinity Ward designed the game in single-player level. Like it or not, that demo happens to be the full version of that truncated demo formerly shown in the press conference of Microsoft.

You discover yourself in a snow level. You start climbing a frozen mountain with ice picks. You use your silenced weapons that are outfitted with advanced hearbeat sensors for sneaking into Russian defenses for reaching a broken down satellite. Ultimately, there will be massive firefight. Part of your mission is to make your get away on snowmobiles. All these make up a strong, madcap pursuit.

Infinity Ward is working on to create different levels of the game. So nobody knows how deep the rabbit hole is going to get. The first game’s hero “Soap” or MacTavish has turned out to be one of the captains and takes over the position of Captain Price.

This means that Soap finally attains a face, and a voice, though the one currently in the demo is temporary placeholder. The gamer plays as a part of an international coalition composed of CIA, Interpol, Delta Force, Tough Rangers, and also British SAS.

So let’s get back to the root – demo. It all amounts to an exciting E3 demo. But surely, all E3 demos show off thrill. Infinity Ward is always putting lots of stress on itself for coming up with quality products. And they are aware that anything they say/do will be investigated to death. But it all seems like this game is going to be one of this year’s most expected games.

Modern Warfare 2 Exclusive DLC

modern_warfare_2-snowInfinity Ward showed off its great game and revealed fresh details.

There’s a lot to talk about what happened at the Microsoft Press Conference in LA. Journalists came to know about Modern Warfare 2’s broad demo.

Trust me! It was a classic ice climbing sight where the player dives of a cliff while holding 2 ice picks. You see the virtual world where you slide down some kind of ledge and finally jumble up that cliff with some help from a partner.

But the producers had more announcements to make.

When Modern Warfare 2 is launched, Xbox 360 users would get access to some elite add-ons for the game. This particular DLC would come with 2 maps for Modern Warfare 2 – especially on the Xbox Live. But we still need much more details on this game. So here are some more…

In the game you and the Soap are supposed to penetrate a Russian airstrip high on a wintry mountain range. You’re there for getting yourself some data off a broken satellite. This level starts with ice climbing (you need to hold down your right trigger for planting the ice picks over the glaciers).

Some mountains are hairy. And when your picks cannot pierce the ice, you’ll find yourself steadily falling. But that should not be a problem if you’re determined to get atop that beautiful cliff.

Your next job is to navigate through that blinded snowstorm, while keeping away from Russian patrols. You have your ammos with you all the time. You carry a silenced piece of assault rifle that comes equipped with some sort of heartbeat sensors that are attached to your sides. At a stage, you’ll feel it has some similarity with James Cameron’s Aliens.

Modern Warfare 2 Details Surface

September 25th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in News

modern-warfare-2-helicopterIt comes with a nice co-op mode plus much more. Details regarding Infinity Ward’s much anticipated forthcoming shooter – the Modern Warfare 2 has seen broad daylight in the Game Informer’s last issue.

The campaign mode of this game features Captain ‘Soap’. In real life, Soap is actually MacTavish. This guy returns from the previous version ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’. This is however one of the most outstanding non-playable characters. Ironically, the role in this game is no exception.

Let’s now see what to expect about the staging of the game. The staging would be much more varied. The total duration is 6-10 hours. Game play mechanics would include climbing icy slopes of mountains as you carry ice picks and ride a snowmobile. There can also be a number of ingenious enemy attacks.

And you’ll see seemingly never-ending waves initiate until you have stepped across the invisible line. The game’s settings could range from typical Russian snowy mountains to Rio de Janiero, in Brazil. This is supposed to be much more extensive level compared to any current versions of Modern Warfare.

And this game comes with some entirely new modes. Special Forces is one such mode. This involves a couple of secluded stages that are neither tied, nor narrative. There are hardly any sign regarding exactly how many Special Forces stages there would be.

But some sources confirm that those will be one of the “major parts” of this game. Even more interesting fact is, as the story-based campaign suggests single-player only mode, you’ll be assisted by the maps of the Special Forces and that is how 2 players are allowed to run throughout the game co-operatively. Infinity Ward said that it was about to focus on getting players famous depending on their achievements.

Modern Warfare 2: Things to expect and things not to

September 24th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Game Details

modern-warfare-2-picThis game was announced just a few months ago and was backed by a great trailer. On the first thought, this one is supposed to bring lots of thrill. The trailer however was less effective in getting people to the light about this game. Infinity Ward is a master at keeping you in darkness. However, these game makers revealed some insight on the game only after they provided the full and formal trailer.

The time of the story is just after the initial Modern Warfare. It was the time when Russia is facing its downturn and causing problems to top leaders around the world. A Russian fanatic organization tries to undermine the region, while making malicious moves to snatch Russia’s weapons’ supply.

Eventually, you find the guy called Makarov, who happens to be the leader of that fanatic organization. As the story starts moving, you see Makarov’s close association with Zakhaev, a mastermind behind a nuclear attack you saw in the previous version of the game.

Conflicting Makarov is the intercontinental anti-terrorist organization named Task Force 141. That group is guided by a character -”Soap” McTavish who was working hard in this game’s original version. The gamer has to work for McTavish, while making smart moves to hold Makarov back from getting to his evil goals.

When you play the game, you come across with a large variety of environments or settings. You’re taken virtually all around the world. You get to visit countries like Russia, Afghanistan, or Brazil.

You will swagger around some large variety of locations. Some are suburban areas, while others are snow-filled mountains. However, the latter one sets a stage for an extraordinary, adrenaline driving snowmobile chase that involves bullets showering all around. But snowflakes are sometimes all the same painful.

This game however has a spectacular mode known as “Special Forces.” It accommodates 2-player joint play, while allowing missions beyond the major campaign.

Do gamers regard the Prestige Edition of ‘Modern Warfare 2’ as insane?

This product includes an artbook, an easily downloadable edition of COD1, plus… night vision eyeglasses?

Gamers looking for somewhat “limited” edition of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 can feel benefited considering this edition offers a little more than a game.

Robert Bowling, in charge of Infinity Ward’s gamer community ran teaser on twitter. It was a movie put together off ‘un-boxing’ of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 box. But gamers were little prepared to discover that the “box” he mentioned actually meant “night vision specs.”

Let us take the whole picture calm and simple here. Firstly, they exposed the fact that there is going to be some sort of “Harden Edition” retailed for $80. That edition will include:

  • Modern Warfare 2
  • A can case
  • A token for downloading the original version of Call of Duty
  • An artbook

Now, let us take a breakdown on the ‘inside materials’ of the “Prestige Edition.” It however comes with:

Modern Warfare 2 (the Harden Edition)
Fully functional night vision specs with alternating modes, loaded with well set sculpted head stand.
The price of this upcoming Prestige Edition has been kept a secret on purpose. But analysts predict that this is going to be something past $100.

Though it seems like that Activision is doing a bit gambling experimentation with this large and promising game, there are chances that these will prove strategic in near future.

These are much like pilot products. And one of Bowling’s recent interviews affirmed this.

And business and game production/marketing is sort of gambling in some sense. It they’re planning to go for a major move in near future. These special editions and accessories are just pilot approaches. And these might be rational after all.
